Premam Censor CDs seized
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After issuing a day’s notice to the Censor Board officials, anti-piracy officials seized two discs containing the Censor copies of the movie, Premam, from the office at Chitranjali studio here on Friday.
The police trooped in with search warrants as the board officials failed to summon the censor copies before 12 noon. The board officials earlier claimed that they had to get the permission from their Mumbai headquarters to hand over discs which were to be sealed and stored for next 20 years.
“We received a nod from Mumbai on Friday and would have given the copy without a warrant. Both copies, which were given to us by Premam movie crew on May 19 and May 26, were handed over,” regional censor officer Prathibha told Deccan Chronicle.
The director of Premam movie, Anwar Rasheed had recently filed a complaint with police after pirated version of his movies appeared online, days after its release on May 29.
“We will scientifically verify whether the movie was copied from this disc. The censor board officials have cooperated with us,” Anti piracy DySP Iqbal said.
Meanwhile censor board officials have said that censoring of movies that was stopped due to Premam controversies will resume on Saturday.
