Mahatma Gandhi University can help off-campus students in studies
Kottayam: The state government has given permission to Mahatma Gandhi University to facilitate the continuation of studies of the enrolled students in their second and third years of study, following the closing down of the 132 off-campus centres under the University.

Mahatma Gandhi University issued orders to close down the off campus centres in three stages following directions from the Chancellor, High Court and State Government.
Following this, the University approached the Government to facilitate the continuation of the studies of the students already enrolled with the varsity.
Vice Chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian on Friday convened a meeting to discuss the implementation aspects of the Government's directions. Based on the directions of the Government, the meeting decided to convene a meet of University recognised Coordinators of the off campus centres on July 22 to activate the academic process for the off campus students.
The course materials for the students as well as the marks lists will be distributed through the coordinators. The practical and viva voce examinations will be conducted by the university with the support of the coordinators.
They will be responsible for continuation of the academic programmes as stipulated by the varsity. The students in the second and third years can log into the off campus portal from July 23 onwards for remittance of fees.
The registration process for the next academic year will commence on August 1 for which a separate notification will be issued by the University.
