Sexual harassment charge against professor

Coimbatore: The Bharathiar University, in a statement, has claimed that “there was no truth” in the sexual harassment allegation that was made by a PhD scholar against the Head of the English Department R. Saravana Selvan on Thursday.
In what appeared to be a dramatic twist, the scholar has withdrawn the case and the University has agreed to permit her to continue her doctoral research and complete her PhD. “A compromise has been reached”, said a source inside the University.
Earlier, a few students of the University sat in a demonstration in supporting the professor who had reportedly been accused of harassment. According to the statement issued by Registrar of Bharathiar University, K. G. Senthilvasan the university had constituted a committee consisting of senior members of the university Syndicate, Dean of Research, three woman professors and a senior professor for conducting an inquiry and has arrived at the conclusion that there is no truth in the allegation made against the professor.
