MP government collects Rs 9.76 crore donations for Nepal quake relief
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has so far received donations of over Rs 9.76 crore towards relief for earthquake-affected people in Nepal.
A powerful earthquake jolted the Himalayan country on April 25 this year.
"The government has received Rs 9,76,60,398 as donations from people of Madhya Pradesh for relief to earthquake- affected people of Nepal and other areas," a state Public Relations department official said today.
Donations from various cities of MP are still pouring in, he said.
The amount has been deposited in a special bank account opened by the state government.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appealed to the people to contribute generously for helping the quake-hit citizens of Nepal.
The donations will finally be handed over to the Centre for further necessary action, he added.
