KPCC flays Veekshanam for Vizhinjam muddle
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has lashed out at Congress mouthpiece Veekshanam for coming out with political statements that put the party in bad light.
He maintained that the KPCC was there to do its political responsibilities. Sudheeran told reporters after the KPCC executive meeting that there was no confusion over the Vizhinjam project and the party and the government were on the same page.
Sudheeran criticised the government for not being vigilant on completing the printing of textbooks in time.
After the daylong meeting at Indira Bhavan, a peeved Mr Sudheeran opined that Veekshanam should have abstained from making its views on political issues.
He lamented that articles appearing in Veekshanam were creating enough controversies.
When Kodikunnil Suresh MP urged the party to reveal whether KC (B) chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai had plans to come back to the UDF, Mr Sudheeran quipped, neither he nor Chief Minister Oommen Chandy have plans to expand the coalition.
Mr Suresh informed the meeting that there had been talks in Pathanapuram and Kollam areas that Mr Pillai was keen to return to the UDF.
“The agenda of the party is to strengthen its foundation and not to expand. Regarding organisational elections, KPCC has decided to expand the party until DCC by this month end,” he said.
KPCC has decided to hold a Parliament march during early August for the cause of rubber farmers.
KPCC general secretary and Consumerfed director Satheeshan Pacheni demanded that its chairman Joy Thomas is inefficient and is ruining the federation which “calls for his removal”.
Hearing this, Sudheeran said stringent action will be taken against erring officials.
Apart from Mr Pacheni, two more directors who are KPCC leaders Suma Balakrishnan and Manvila Radhakrishnan were not invited to the high level meeting next week.
The meeting which has been convened at the behest of Mr Chandy has decided to invite these directors. It will also be attended by home minister Ramesh Chennithala and cooperation minister C. N. Balakrishnan.
Kozhikode DCC president K. C. Abu brought to the notice of the KPCC that district collector N. Prashant was never available on phone.
He lamented that during his old age he was not a techno savvy to use Facebook and WhatsApp and alleged that Congress can’t go for Panchayat elections with a civil servant who is following Marxist ideologies. Though M. K. Raghavan MP was not present at the meeting, Mr Abu said he too shared his views.
