Kerala Water Authority needs more time to restore water supply

Power supply failure has also affected normal pumping, said KWA executive engineer Kamalahasan

Kochi: Kerala Water Authority officials have agreed to resolve the severe drinking water scarcity experienced in many parts of the city during last couple of weeks.

During a meeting convened by Mayor Tony Chammany on Thursday, KWA authorities informed that water supply was disrupted from the Aluva pump house when slush entered the pipeline network.

Power supply failure has also affected normal pumping, said KWA executive engineer Kamalahasan.

“Though the problem has been rectified, it will take few more days to restore water supply,” he informed.

The Mayor convened the meeting with KWA officials, after the corporation councillors raised the issue of drinking water scarcity in the recent council meeting.

Areas like Thevara and Konthuruthy areas are the worst hit with no supply of drinking water for the last couple of weeks.
