Lucknow: Defence minister Manohar Parrikar has said that India was quite capable of securing its borders. He was responding to the state made by his Pakistan counterpart Khwaja Asif who hinted at the use of nuclear weapons.
“I want to assure everyone that we are in a position to defend ourselves and our borders,” the defence minister told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Lucknow on Thursday.
Asked to comment on the possible use of nuclear weapons, Mr Parrikar said, “An answer to every question is not necessary. I am the defence minister of India, not of Pakistan”. On the issue of cross border terrorism, Mr Parrikar said that the incidents had scaled down.
He refused to comment on the possibility of Myanmar like strikes in the future. “Such things are secret and cannot be shared,”said.
