The new revised syllabi textbooks are yet to be printed

Hyderabad: Classes have begun in graduate colleges in Telangana, but the new revised syllabi textbooks are yet to be printed. The Telangana State Council of Higher Education designed the new syllabus incorporating elements of Telangana and had instructed all colleges in the state to adopt it. But though more than a month has passed and classes have started, Osmania and Kakatiya Universities are yet to adopt the new syllabus in their executive councils.
Printing of textbooks is to be taken up by the Telugu Akademi, but it is unwilling to do so until all the varsities approve the new syllabus. According to senior TSCHE officials, the syllabus of Telugu, political science, sociology, history, public administration and commerce has been revised. “These changes are essential and have to be effected from this academic session itself. We can’t delay it in the current syllabi as only chapters related to Andhra are present. There are aspects about the TS agitation. All these are important for students to prepare for the state public service exams,” a senior TSCHE official said.
Of the nearly 1,200 colleges in TS, nearly 800 are affiliated to OU and about 500 are affiliated to Kakatiya University. “Some varsities like Mahatma Gandhi, Telangana and Satavahana have approved the new syllabi but they are stuck because of these two varsities. There is no time. Classes have already begun,” TSCHE officials said. TSCHE had instructed varsities to adopt the new syllabus on May 28.
