R. Balki, who will take his film with Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan on the floors next month, also has another project in mind. It is reliably learnt that the director has discussed a project with Amitabh Bachchan. If it does work out, this will be Balki’s fourth film with Big B after Cheeni Kum, Paa and Shamitabh a collaboration that has (except for the last film) been remarkably successful.
A source said, “The project is in its very early stages. You can say that right now only discussions have taken place. Balki has shared the idea with Amitabh and the interactions have moved further.” Our source also informs us that Balki has also approached Sridevi for the film. Incidentally, Sri had last worked with Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde in the critically acclaimed English Vinglish.
“After the leading actors officially come on board, they will have to take this project to a studio. All this will take some time, as Balki is busy with his current film. But if all goes well, the film is likely to go on the floors by next year,” our source added.
However, Balki himself chose to say the speculation was untrue when we contacted him. Which means that for fans who were longing to see the Big B and Sridevi recreate their Khuda Gawah and Inquilaab chemistry on screen, there may be a long wait in store.
