Watch: This robot uses smartphone to solve Rubik’s cube

Robot developed by ARM used the Samsung S4’s processor to solve it in record time

In a practically useless creation, ARM showed off its new robot, which used the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone’s processing power to solve a Rubiks cube in a record-breaking time. However, though the robot is not practically of any use in life, it could mean a breakthrough in future robotics running on smaller and cheaper processors.

The robot is named as Cubestomer 3, which uses a smartphone’s processing power and Android OS to solve the Rubik’s cube, like its predecessor. The previous iteration of the Cubestomer 3 used a Samsung Galaxy S2 to do the same.

The report said that the robot looked like a stout barrel. The cube goes in the middle, the phone fixed on an arm above it and a few robotic arms to twist the cubes around.
