Did you know? Facebook has been hiding your messages all this time

Facebook has been keeping your messages in two inbox folders, hidden in front of you

When you receive an email or a message from a Facebook fried, you are likely to see that notification popup in your messages feed. The small icon that resides on the top corner of your desktop screen in Facebook alerts you of all incoming messages from your friends. And if you have set your alerts to come up as a text message or an email, Facebook will forward it to you accordingly.

But what happens when an unknown person sends you a message? Express UK believes that Facebook is ‘frustratingly quiet’. The social giant will not send you unknown messages via text or email, but simply dumps the message into a second mailbox, named as ‘other’. So if you are a regular on Facebook, you may not know who, apart from your friends, has sent you a message, unless you know where to look.

Express points out that the ‘other inbox’ is located within the messages window itself, right in front of you, but blurred out. Hence it is not easily visible. Open Facebook, click on the messages icon and the window to all your messages will open. Look carefully at the top bar in the window and you will find the second link from the left as ‘other’. Click that link and you will discover how many messages you received till date and you never even know they sent it to you. We did see a few unread messages dated as early as 2012.
