Tamil Nadu gears up to achieve 100 per cent pass percentage in board examinations

Several welfare scheme has been launched to minimise dropouts in schools

Chennai: With an aim to achieve 100 per cent pass percentage in class X and XII board exams in all government schools across the state this year, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has come up with series of an action plan right from identifying subjects difficult for students to training teachers in those subjects. The state government has launched several welfare schemes for students such as distribution of free textbooks, notebooks and uniforms to minimise dropouts in schools and make all students come to schools.

SCERT director V.C. Rameswara Murugan said the state school education department has identified districts like Tiruvanna malai, Villupuram, Vellore, Cuddalore, Tiruvallur, Nagapattinam and Dhar mapuri as districts, which need more attention.“We are going to conduct series of discussions from tomorrow (July 9) with government school teacher on the issues, which hamper students’ prospects to secure 100 per cent results in their school,” he said adding that they would also identify subjects, which students feel difficult in exams.

“Once we narrow down on all these issues we will launch training programme for teachers to help them teach subjects in a better way and achieve 100 per cent pass percentage in class X and XII government exams,” he said. The government also filled over 50,000 vacant teacher posts in government schools, which helped improve pass percentage.
