Anna University fulfils dreams of foreign candidates
Chennai: Sivaranjani Ganesh (18), who spent most of her life in Singapore said her dream was to come to Chennai for studies. She revealed this during the counselling of foreign candidates on Wednesday at Anna University.
About 20 foreign candidates were found eligible for counselling. Of these, 16 had come for the counseling and all of them got their colleges. There is 5 per cent reservation of seats for foreign students, 5 per cent for Non Resident Indians and 5 per cent reservation for Gulf nationals in three colleges – MIT Chrompet, College of Engineering Guindy and Alagappa College of Technology.
Sivaranjani had moved to Singapore when she was eight years old. “This is my birthplace. I also wanted to return to India as my parents are shifting to different places for work.” She has chosen Electronics and Communications Engineering at College of Engineering Guindy.
Shraddha Padmanabhan who spent most of her life in the U.S. has shifted back to India. She got Computer Science at College of Engineering Guindy. “I hope I will be able to cope up with the subject,” she said.
