Sand mafia throws away lady Tehsildar

The women workers allegedly entered into the territory of Balive of Musunuru mandal and started mining sand
Vijayawada: In a bizarre incident a woman Tehsildar was allegedly lifted bodily and thrown after she lay on the sand to stop a tractor which was illegally transporting sand from Balive and Rangampeta villages of Musunuru mandal in Krishna district on Wednesday.
On receiving complaints Musunuru Tehsildar D. Vanajakshi confronted an alleged member of the sand mafia that was illegally mining sand from Tammileru stream in Rangampeta village.
The stream divides Krishna and West Godavari districts and sand mining is permitted only on the side of Denduluru in West Godavari while mining from Balive is not allowed.
The women workers allegedly entered into the territory of Balive of Musunuru mandal and started mining sand, which is illegal. According to sources, after the Tehsildar lay down in front of the tractor, DWACRA women of Denduluru following orders by the MLA who was near the spot rolled the Tehsildar and threw her. The women and other men belonging to the MLA attacked her staff too. Computer operator M. Suresh’s clothes were torn and the Tehsildar received minor injuries. “I was attacked, lifted and thrown. They also grabbed my phone,” Ms Vanajakshi said.
Musunuru sub-inspector and others came to the rescue of the officials and brought the situation under control. Nuzvid deputy superintendent of police (DSP) S. Venkata Ramana also visited the spot. However, Ms Vanajakshi complained about the incident to the district collector and the DRO.
The Musunuru sub-inspector said that they are yet to receive a complaint from Ms Vanajakshi. The MLA’s followers also attacked media personnel. They grabbed the cameras of media men and deleted the pictures of the MLA captured at the spot. However, as soon as the police reached the spot, the MLA fled from the scene.
