Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Vizag on July 16 has been postponed. The new date will be announced shortly. PM was to visit Vizag to dedicate ISPRL’s underground rock cavern crude oil storage facility and Vizag Steel Plant’s expansion to the nation. To review the arrangements for the PM’s visit, chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, along with the state DGP J.V. Ramudu reached Vizag on Wednesday.
“We have received a communication from the PMO that the Prime Minister’s visit to the city has been postponed. The PMO has said that the new date of the visit would be communicated later,” said district collector N. Yuvaraj.
Even before the communication from the PMO reached the district administration, both the senior officials of the state government had visited ISPRL and Vizag Steel Plant to know the arrangements. They discussed with steel plant officials about the expansion plans and also with the police on the helipads at INS Sathavahana, Steel Plant and other security arrangements.
