Plus-2 girl gets drunk, creates ruckus
Inebriated schoolgirl falls off friend’s two-wheeler while riding pillion
Coimbatore: In a disturbing trend of underage youngsters consuming alcohol, a plus-two girl student, who created a ruckus in an inebriated condition, was rescued and handed over to her parents by Thudiyalur police here on Tuesday.
The girl, aged 17, was in her school uniform and had bunked her class only to get drunk heavily. “She left her house in uniform, but did not go to school and had consumed alcohol. She had then called up her friends to a mall, where they rushed to her help,” police said.
Police are yet to find out from where she sourced the liquor. “She could have bought the liquor from a liquor shop through someone or took it from her house,” police said. Riding pillion in one her friend’s two-wheeler, the intoxicated girl lost her grip and fell off near Thudiyalur. Luckily, she did not suffer any injuries. Passersby who witnessed the incident, came to her rescue, but the girl hurled abuses at them. She lay down on the road and refused to move away, which led to traffic piling up on the busy stretch for a while.
On receiving information, the Thudiyalur police reached the spot and informed the girls' parents, who came and took her away in a car. Police said the girl, studying in a private school in R.S. Puram, had consumed alcohol due to a failed love affair. They let her off with a warning as booking her in a case might affect her academics and future.
