Hyderabad High Court refuses bail to Faisal Dayani
Dayani, a gym instructor, and seven others were arrested by police in August 2014
Hyderabad: Justice M.S.K. Jaiswal of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday refused to grant bail to Faisal Dayani, the alleged leader of the “snake gang”. Dayani, a gym instructor, and seven others were arrested by police in August 2014 for the alleged gang-rape of a woman in front of her fiancé at a guest house. They had allegedly threatened the victims with a snake and also filmed the crime on their mobile phones.
Additional public prosecutor D. Rami Reddy opposed the bail of Dayani on the ground that he was the leader of the gang which had been involved in several offences and if enlarged on bail, he might escape to Dubai.
He said that the government had already invoked the Preventive Detention Act against Dayani and two of his gang members and there was the possibility of him threatening the witnesses if he was released on bail. Considering the arguments of the prosecution, the judge dismissed the bail application.
