Dry spell takes a toll on Haritha Haaram

There is no such effort and plants implanted in open places were invisible
Khammam: Dry spell turned out to be a curse to the saplings being implanted during Haritha Haaram. Hundreds of saplings are getting dried up due to lack of moisture in the soil. There was no rain after commencement of the Haritha Haaram on July 3 and the soil got dried up to 15 inches depth due to dry spell for the last 15 days. The plants need a little water daily after implanting. The officials, who planted the saplings, washed their hands.
The officials planted 300 saplings on the premises of government offices at Julurpad mandal headquarter. Fifty per cent of the saplings were grounded due to lack of moisture in the soil.
Such situation witnessed in many of the government offices in the different mandal headquarters. The officials were asked to arrange tree-guards to the plants in government offices.
