Elangovan had passed defamatory remarks against the former

Chennai: The state government has filed a defamation case against Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E.V.K.S. Elangovan and editor of Kalaignar TV, run by its arch rival DMK, for speaking against the government.

On behalf of minister for highways, ports and forests, K. Palaniswami, city public prosecutor, M.L. Jegan filed the petition filed before principal sessions court on Wednesday. In the petition, the minister said that in the news program telecast on the channel on April 7, Elangovan had passed defamatory remarks against the former. Elangovan appealed to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths to conduct investigation into the issue.
