App connects cops, hoteliers in Vijayawada
Hoteliers can now provide details of guests through app
Vijayawada: In a first, Vijayawada police department, which has made it compulsory for city hoteliers to provide all details of its guests to police department, has launched an android application called Vijayawada Police Security Service (VPSS).
The application, developed by city-based firmware company Efftronics Systems, is the mobile version of the software which creates a communication system between police and all hoteliers in city.
Following various incidents and crimes in and around the city, police found that many criminals and miscreants used city hotels and lodges to take shelter. Even in the case of SIMI activists’ movement in Vijayawada and Guntur, police suspect them of having stayed in lodges to conduct recce of the city.
However, city police and even the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths, who combed the city and surroundings, failed to find any trace of the SIMI activists’ movements here.
Most burglars and other offenders in the city are from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and other neighbouring states and are said to put up at city lodges and hotels during their visits.
To keep track of the movements of the accused and other seasoned criminals, police have sought cooperation from city hoteliers by providing all details of their guests on a daily basis.
For the same, the app has also been developed. Only hoteliers would have access to the app with the login details provided by the police.
Hoteliers need to upload picture, contact number, address, room number and details of the guest’s companions through the application which would be reviewed by police department.
If the data provided by hoteliers match that of any criminals, cops would keep special vigil on them and take necessary actions. The app will also notify the check in and checkout times of the guests in all hotels.
Hoteliers also have agreed to provide data required by police department.
