Hyderabad: A man allegedly killed his wife suspecting her fidelity and surrendered before police with the iron rod he used to kill her at Mangalhat. Rajesh Sharma, 38, hit his wife with the rod after they had a quarrel when he questioned her about an extramarital affair. Saritha Sharma, 34, died on the spot before any medical aid, police said.
The incident occurred at Birban colony on Wednesday when their kids were not at home. “The couple had been quarreling since many days. Today, he hit her with an iron rod causing a serious head injury which led to instant death,” said inspector R. Srinivas.
A few days ago, Rajesh, who works in a textiles shop, had noticed Saritha talking on her mobile phone for hours. He questioned her about it and she did not reveal anything. Later, on a few occasions, he questioned her whenever she used her phone.
On Wednesday afternoon, he did not go to work, and again noticed her talking on the phone. He tried to snatch the phone and asked her whom she was talking to. It led to an argument, after which he attacked her, police officials said. The couple, who got married 14 years ago, has two children. The police has arrested Rajesh after booking a case for murder.
