Hyderabad: An auto driver was arrested for robbing a woman Air India employee at Attapur. The culprit had diverted his autorickshaw and had snatched her money, ornaments and phone on Monday night. The 21-year-old suspect, Md Akbar, was a habitual criminal, police said.
The 57-year-old victim, P.R. Seemanthini, a customer service officer at RGI Airport, was pushed out of the vehicle by him. She later approached the police. Police said Seemanthini had came from Vizag to RGIA and had come to Mehdipatnam in a Pushpak bus.”
“Akbar took her via Pillar No: 3 and when she asked him why he was taking her towards Rethibowli, he told her that he had to fill fuel. He stopped the vehicle at an isolated place. He closed the side screen of his auto and told her that the vehicle had a problem. Then, suddenly he hit her on the face, nose and forehead," said additional inspector G. Raju.
Police said that Akbar had earlier attacked other women passengers and looted them. He had also tortured his first wife and compelled her to end her life. He was addicted to bad habits and wanted money to buy drugs and alcohol, officials added.
