Mystic Mantra: The path of Dharma

Dharma is giving back to creation what it has given you, over lifetimes

Kalyug is marked by the fall of dharma. Dharma is not to be confused with religion. It is the inherent nature of creation. For example, the dharma of the sun is to give heat and light; the dharma of a tree is to give shade. Similarly, the dharma of human beings is to protect those weaker than them — humans, animals, plants... With the fall in dharma, there is rise in disease, suffering and pollution. And with increase in disease and suffering, there is increase in the number of solutions offered to overcome those problems.

There are so many kinds of “healing arts and sciences” that are sold in the market these days. One can find a healing shop at every nook and corner. Some sell chimes, some stones and crystals, some give totems, others use stars, planets, sound, light, colour, magnets, medicine, herbs, heat, pressure, oils, hypnosis, counselling and even magic to rid you of your problems.

The reality is that with the kind of atrocities and crimes being committed — against humanity, reckless abuse and killing of animals, polluting the earth and air with toxins, adulteration of food and water, clearing away of forests — no healing science can work. Caught in the web of new-age “healing sciences,” we have forgotten that it’s yoga, often called the final frontier, which can take us from the unreal to real. But today there are more than hundred forms of yoga, and an even greater number of “healing sciences” — every other person introduces a new method and contends that s/he is superior to others. The time is not far when everyone will walk around calling themselves a guru… and yet hardly anyone would talk of yoga.

Reality is one. And the path to that reality is also one. Dharma is giving back to creation what it has given you, over lifetimes. No one decides anything for you, nor is anyone allowed to judge you. Indications will come as you walk the path of dharma. The problem could be that when you walk the path of dharma, due to the effects of the present yug, kalyug, your friends and relations will try to stop you, by mocking you. Also, your raag (attachment) and greed will increase. All this will happen to prevent your ascent into siddhis. But you must hold on, be firm. Don’t forget, a bright day always comes after the darkest of nights.
