OnePlus 2: All you need to know about the next flagship killer

OnePlus is really taking the market by a surprise. With the first handset being a flagship killer and launching it as a low-priced, premium high-end smartphone, OnePlus created quite a buzz. Now with the second smartphone ready to run out of their stable, this one is also expected to be a flagship killer.

OnePlus has been slowly revealing the specifications of the next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, on their blog and Facebook page. It is the first time any smartphone manufacturer has been leaking out the specifications of their upcoming flagship product to create impatience within the in industry. The first information they spilled out was that the OnePlus 2 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. The second one confirmed a Type-C USB connector for charging and data transfer. The next one was that the launch will be witnessed by all fans and followers using a virtual reality cardboard headset as the event will be streamed live. Fans can watch the virtual reality video on the cardboard headsets that can be won or bought on Amazon for Rs 99 (Available on July 3, 2015, presently out of stock). Last week, they announced a fingerprint scanner on the handset. Today they finally mentioned that the new flagship will also sport 4GB of RAM.

As of now, revealed specs, features and details confirm the following:

1. Snapdragon 810 chipset
2. USB Type-C connector
3. Fingerprint security
4. 4GB of RAM
5. Price below Rs 30,000
6. Live unveiling of the phone using Virtual Reality via online streaming event
7. Event on July 27, 2015 at 7pm PST (7.30am IST)

Rumours that still needs to be confirmed:

1. All metal body
2. 5.5-inch 2K display
3. Display with 2.5D glass (similar to display edges on that of the Google Nexus 6, Xiaomi Mi Note, and the Apple iPhone 6
4. OnePlus 2 Mini (or Compact), another smartphone along with the flagship
5. Three variants of OnePlus 2 – probably three storage variants – 32/16/128 GB
6. Rear camera with a 16MP or a 20MP sensor
7. Battery rating of 3,300mAh

The final date for the launch has been revealed and the event will be streamed live over the internet. Come July 27, 2015, OnePlus will raise the curtains from the OnePlus 2, the next awaited flagship killer. Indian fans can witness the launch streaming in virtual reality at 7.30am on July 28.
