CM K Chandrasekhar Rao turns choosy in taking leaders
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has become choosy about inducting leaders from other political parties. If sources close to him are to be believed, he spurned requests from several Congress and TD leaders to avoid misgivings in his own party as well as a backlash from people in constituencies where TRS has its MLA or a strong leadership.
While former APCC president D. Srinivas will formally join the TRS in the presence of the CM here on Wednesday, another former minister and senior Congress leader, Sudarshan Reddy, also from Nizamabad district is all set to join TRS. “Modalities are being worked out for the entry of senior Congress leader and former minister Sudharshan Reddy from Nizamabad district. He is likely to join the TRS soon. The CM is quite choosy now,” a senior TRS leader said.
Sources said the CM was initially reluctant to take senior Congress leader D. Srinivas. TRS won all nine assembly seats and Lok Sabha seats in Nizamabad. “The CM is doing a balancing act to accommodate new entrants from Congress and TD. If we open the gates, there will be flood of leaders and cadre from other parties which will create problems. The CM said no to former minister Danam Nage-nder and ex-MLA and actor Jayasudha,” a TRS MLC said.
However, both Nagender and Jayasudha denied rumours of joining TRS leaving the Congress. The CM has been facing flak for luring Telugu Desam and Congress legislators into the party fold, especially the inclusion of Sanathnagar TD MLA T. Srinivas Yadav into the cabinet.
Technically, Srinivas Yadav resigned his primary membership of TD and as Sanathnagar MLA, but the Speaker is yet to accept his resignation as MLA. Taking this as an opportunity, Telangana Telugu Desam leaders are hitting out at the CM for having a TD MLA in his cabinet and even complained to the President of India and the Governor.
