Somnath Bharti case: Lipika Mitra stage protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi: DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh, AAP leader Somnath Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra and the complainant in the Kumar Vishwas case on Wednesday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar, seeking a hearing of their complaints by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"We want the Delhi government to hear our complaints and take action against the guilty. I am with Lipika and the complainant in Vishwas' case not as chairperson of DCW but as a victim," Singh said.
"Every woman is a victim of AAP, be it Shakuntala Gamblin, Lipika Mitra, the complainant in Vishwas' case or Barkha Singh," Singh, whose terms ends on July 18, said.
Mitra, who has alleged domestic violence by her husband, former Delhi law minister and AAP MLA Bharti, and is seeking police action, said that she wants justice.
"Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who talks about women empowerment and gender equality has heard my husband's version, but why is he not calling me to listen to my version? "If there is an ounce of lie in what I have said, I am ready to face action. I want strict action against my husband," she said.
On Tuesday, a court had dismissed the anticipatory bail plea by Bharti, saying there was no apprehension of his arrest as no FIR has yet been lodged. Meanwhile, the woman, who has accused Vishwas of not rebutting the "rumours" about their alleged illicit liaison, has lodged a complaint with Seemapuri Police Station, alleging that the AAP leader's men threatened to kill her and her family members if she did not withdraw her complaint.
The DCW chief had on May 15 approached the Lt Governor and the Delhi Police seeking "stringent" action against Vishwas, alleging that he was behind the posting of a series of "inappropriate" and "objectionable" tweets against her.
