D Srinivas to join TRS today at Hyderabad
Nizamabad: Former PCC chief D. Srinivas followers have decided to follow his footsteps and join the TRS along with their leader on July 8 at Hyderabad. The former minister will join in the pink party at Telangana Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
In view of this, a section of Congress leaders and activists, including elected representatives have decided to switch loyalties too. District Congress committee has asked them to resign from their respective posts.
Ending his four decades-long association with the Congress, Mr Srinivas has decided to switch loyalty. Interestingly, all his close followers seem reluctant to join TRS and will continue with Congress.
Few municipal corporators in Nizamabad urban, elected representatives of Nizamabad rural Assembly constituency will follow the footsteps of their leader.
On the other hand, DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan warned that Congress leaders will be expelled from the party, if they join TRS along with D. Srinivas. “Elected representatives must resign from their posts as they got elected on Congress party symbol,” he said. However, Congress leaders are also convincing others not to leave the party.
Speaking to this newspaper, a senior Congress leader said that with the blessings of party high command they have achieved recognition and faith in the society. “We did not have political lineage or assets, but we served the people with the cooperation of the Congress and we will not resign from it,” he said. He criticised former PCC chief D. Srinivas for being opportunistic.
D. Srinivas will join TRS on Wednesday at 1 pm. For the purpose, organisers engaged RTC buses, cars to shift the followers. It is believed that followers from Nizamabad rural and Nizamabad urban constituencies will participate in the induction programme.
