Hyderabad: Anantagiri hills in Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy district is a paradise for birds of about 162 species, residential as well as migratory. However, it is getting ruined due to reckless actions of people who visit the place and litter the area with plastic and other garbage.
In order to rejuvenate the area to ensure that the birds do no desert the place, some state government departments have decided to conduct a rejuvenation drive in the Anantagiri hills this Saturday.
The drive is undertaken jointly by the Telangana Special Protection Force, Collector of Ranga Reddy district and a city-based NGO called Hyderabad Birding Pals. A similar effort was earlier undertaken at the Ameenpur lake in which many volunteers had participated including 100 cadres of the TSPF.
The importance of Anantagiri hills does not lie just in the fact that it is a haven for birds, but also because water flows from these hills and enters into the Osmansagar and Himayathsagar for which conservation efforts are being made in Hyderabad.
