Hyderabad woman killed in revenge murder
Hyderabad: In a gruesome revenge killing, a 21-year-old man went on a stabbing spree at Koti, killing his cousin sister and injuring her husband on Tuesday early morning.
The attacker stabbed the victim on the back at least 13 times while she was cleaning a place of worship.
Sona Bhai, 35, succumbed to serious injuries on the spot, while her husband, Anand Das, who is the temple priest, sustained two stab injuries.
The attacker Lakhan Bhai, a resident of Valmikinagar, was chased and caught by one of the interceptor vehicles of the East Zone police minutes after the murder.
Police officials said that Sona Bhai was accused in a murder in 2009 in the same place, and this attack was a revenge for that murder.
Lakhan Bhai, who had been planning to attack Sona Bhai and her husband, came to Lakshminarayana temple, which is taken care of by the victim’s family, at around 7 am.
“He found her alone there, and attacked her from behind. He went on stabbing her repeatedly till her husband and others came out. When her husband tried to stop him, he stabbed him and started running. The locals and relatives tried to chase him, and the police intercept vehicle, coming that way caught him,” said Sultan Bazaar police inspector P. Shiva Shanakar Rao.
“Sona Bhai was arrested earlier for killing her cousin Tulja Ram, by sending henchmen six years ago. She came out of jail later. Before that, Tulja Ram had killed Sona Bhai’s kin following a dispute,” said the inspector.
Both families have been fighting each other for crores worth of property in Maharashtra and in Hyderabad. Police have booked a murder case.
