Pakistani Hindus will have to wait a little longer to legalise their marriages
Islamabad: Pakistani Hindus will have to wait a little longer to legalise their marriages as the provinces are reluctant to empower the federal government to enact legislation in this regard.On the directions of the SC, the law ministry had written to all the provinces to empower under Article 144 to introduce the Hindu Marriage Bill, 2015 before parliament.
However, the provinces seem hesitant to empower the federal government to enact legislation for around two million Hindus. Officials said the provinces’ lack of interest has become a stumbling block in getting the laws passed. Its will allow Hindus to register marriages for the first time in the country. The ministry of law and justice prepared the Hindu Marriage Bill, 2015 which would only be operating in Islamabad Capital Territory.
