When movies moved from VHS to CD, then DVD and later Blur-ray, the pornography industry was one of the first to keep up on the new media. Later, when video streaming services took to the internet and moved on with full HD, 3D and 4K content, the same adult content raced before the entertainment industry could actually even invest properly. The main reason—porn is a multi-billion dollar industry, world-wide. The adult entertainment industry is always attracting more traffic with new consumers each day, only adding up to its revenue.
Now that tech giants, such as Google, Oculus and a few others, had announced that virtual reality is already here with VR headsets as cheap as a dollar, watching porn, other than gaming, in virtual reality is the first thing that would come to one’s mind. And why not—virtual reality puts you in the first person seat, be it a game, movie or pornography, you will definitely enjoy every move in it.
In a recent announcement this week, Naughty America, a San Diego-based organization which creates and releases pornographic and adult content, has claimed to be the first adult entertainment business to release a Virtual Reality-based adult entertainment video. The first title comes in as ‘2 Chicks Same Time’, which is shot and processed for VR entertainment, ready to put you inside the movie itself.
VR or virtual reality needs a VR headset for viewing VR content (apologies for that tongue twister). By using a VR headset, the viewer is virtually transported into the scene (pornstars Nikki Benz and Jaclyn Taylor), and the user will be ‘standing seductively before them, elevating the user to a new height -- a more sensitized, sexual plane,’ says Naughty America.
"Our customers want to get as close to reality as they can get, without reality getting in the way," Naughty America CEO Andreas Hronopoulos said. ‘A VR headset is needed to properly experience the new content, which is formatted for 180-degree stereoscopic head tracking. While various devices are compatible, for the best experience, Naughty America suggests using the Samsung Gear VR for Android users, the Homido Virtual Reality Headset and Mobile VR Station app for iPhone users, or the Oculus Rift.’
To take things further ahead, Naughty America and stars Benz and Taylor will host an in-person promotion offering adults a free taste of the virtual porn experience amid the fervor of Comic-Con International in San Diego. The event, which will be live-streamed on Periscope, will take place July 9-11 from noon to 4 pm at Tivoli Bar & Grill, 505 6th Ave., in downtown San Diego. Fans with Comic-Con badges will be able put on a VR device and watch the new virtual porn content and discuss the experience with the scene's stars, Benz and Taylor.
Though some fans have experienced the demo videos from Naughty America in VR, some claimed that the videos still needed to be better. The adult videos are shot in 30fps, while VR needs to be more than 50fps-60fps. Hence there is a little framing or stuttering in the videos. Well, leave that to the porn industry to act on the comments, for their next video release, with immense speed. For now, they promise weekly updates to their video catalogue.
