Telangana to seek early division of court

TRS government has also decided to stall Parliament Session in this regard

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday took the issue of bifurcation of High Court to the President.

Minister for housing, law and endowments, A. Indrakaran Reddy, met President Pranab Mukherjee and requested him to use his good offices and direct the Centre to speed up bifurcation of the High Court.

Mr Indrakaran Reddy also requested the President to visit the famous Saraswathi Devi temple at Basar in his native Adilabad district during his stay in Hyderabad besides taking up other issues.

“I requested the President to use his good offices and ask the Centre to speed up division of the High Court. I also requested him to pay a visit to the Basar Saraswathi temple. The President considered my suggestions positively,” Mr Indrakaran Reddy said. Delay in bifurcation of the High Court has proved to be a major irritant for the Telangana government, with Telangana judges and advocates.

Telangana judges and advocates have been demanding immediate bifurcation of the High Court since a separate High Court would provide more job opportunities for judges and advocates and others from the new state.

In fact, Telangana Advocates JAC has gone on strike several times and even disrupted functioning of the courts over this issue.

However, the issue has been dragging for long and there has been correspondence between the Centre and Telangana government, but without any result.

TRS government has also decided to stall Parliament Session in this regard.
