Rise in heat leads to itching

People are also complaining of skin rashes, burning sensation and severe itching

Hyderabad: Increasing temperatures are leading to dehydration and itching. Dr Anish Anand, general physician at Apollo Hospitals said, “The rise in temperatures since the last few days has led to many cases of dehydration among elderly citizens, children and also those who have field jobs. They are coming with problems of mild dehydration and it is seen that their water intake is not sufficient due to which there is severe exhaustion.”

People are also complaining of skin rashes, burning sensation and severe itching. General physician Dr S. Padma said, “It is because of the extreme heat conditions since the last fortnight. The weather is expected to be cool and pleasant but it is like summer, hence the dryness in the skin is being seen.” Also, if there are cuts or wounds, chances of infections increase.

Apart from this, due to the strong winds, person to person virus contamination has increased, which has led to the monsoon like symptoms of cough, cold and viral fevers.

Dr Raghu Ram, general physician said, “We are seeing a mimicking of both summer and monsoon diseases due to the climate change. On one hand, there are cases of diarrhea, dengue, viral fevers, cough and cold and on the other side there is dehydration, exhaustion, headaches and also dryness of the skin. These are because the body is having difficulty adapting to the changes in the climate and those with compromised immune systems are reacting in this manner.”

Doctors say that if one feels too exhausted or ill, three days’ rest is sufficient to allow the body to bounce back. But due to the pressures of life, most people do not opt for this option, they pop pills and get back to work.
