Six men were seen forcing the child to down the liquor

TIRUVANNAMALAI:Two persons who gave an alcoholic drink to a four-year-old boy at a farmland in Tiruvannamalai have been arrested on charge of attempt to murder, after a 90-second video of the incident went viral on Whatsapp.
Tiruvannamalai district collector, A. Gnanasekaran received the video on his phone in which six men were seen forcing the child to down the liquor. He immediately directed the police to arrest the offenders.
The video showed the boy developed hiccups after drinking the liquor and the offenders gave him water. Later, the boy was given beer again and the men were teaching the child how to toss the used cup away. The police traced the group with the help of a motorcycles which appeared in the video, the registration number of which is TN 25 AJ 8209, shown in the video.
The Kadaladi police arrested Murugan, the maternal uncle of the child and his brother Manikandan. Prem Kumar, Rajaram and two others were stated to be at large, the police said.
The duo were arrested under Section 307(Attempt to murder) IPC. After the incident, the boy left for Chennai to stay with his parents, the police said. The arrested admitted to the police that the incident took place on last Tuesday. The boy is from Chennai and was staying with his grandparents at Mel Chola Kuppam in Kalasapakkam Taluk here, police said. “The boy’s parents visit him from time to time and even his mother visited him as recently a week ago,” Polur DSP R. Ganesan said.
