Coimbatore police releases awareness CD on drunken driving
A.K. Viswanathan released a short film taken by a film associate director from Sulur
Coimbatore: Aimed at creating awareness on the ill-effects of drunken driving, the city police commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on Monday released a short film taken by a film associate director from Sulur.
The short film shot by S.Suresh Kumar runs for around 22 minutes and revolves around the concept of drunken driving. As in popular movies, a little girl, who was knocked down by a lorry driven by a drunk man, returns as a ghost to take revenge on him.
The ghost enters into the body of a schoolboy and goes around punishing people found driving their vehicle while being intoxicated. “It is a very touching scene, when the girl’s ghost express her shattered dreams as she gets kiled for no fault of her own. The movie ends with a punch with her saying that she would be there to punish anyone who goes about driving in a drunken condition,” Suresh Kumar said.
The short film, produced by S. Yuvaraj and Pranav Karthick, is likely to be screened on local television channels to reach out to wider audience from coming Sunday. “I am very delighted as pappu, which is my 20th short film, had gained lot of appreciation from the police officials,” he said.
His few other shorts films, Payanam Kavanam Thevai, Eppo Varuvaro and Alatchiyam Vendame also touches upon similar subjects.
