Man held for extorting money from women in Guntakal
Anantapur: Guntakal police on Monday arrested a man for trying to extort money from women by threatening them that he would air video clippings he had shot while they were using the bathrooms in a kalyanamandapam in Guntakal town in the district.
K. Ramakrishna Reddy, a native of Pata Kottha Cheruvu in Guntakal mandal had installed spy cameras in the bathrooms of the kalyanamandapam (function hall) and filmed women bathing. After tracing their addresses, He told his victims that unless they paid up, Rs 5 lakh he would upload the footage on social media.
The victims approached the I-Town police, where the cops, led by inspector K. Prasad Rao laid a trap and nabbed the blackmailer. During interrogation, Ramakrishna Reddy revealed that he had been experimenting since the past 1.5 years on how to extend the battery life of the five spy cameras he had purchased online.
The inspector said that spy cameras, a mobile phone and a hunting sickle were seized from Ramakrishna Reddy.
