Class seven boy drowns in stagnant water at quarry
K. Kannan (12), had gone to graze cattle and did not return home
Coimbatore: A class seven boy drowned in a seven-foot deep stagnant water in a quarry in Madukkarai on Saturday. Police said, K. Kannan (12), student from a government school and residing at Thirumalayampalayam had gone to graze cattle and did not return home.
His anxious parents and relatives went on a search, but could not find him anywhere.Later at around, 9 pm, they found his slippers near the water pit in a quarry. On suspicion, they searched in the stagnant water in the quarry and found Kannan drowned to death.
Police suspect that the boy could have tried to wash his hands and legs, but had unfortunately slipped into the water and died. The body of the boy had been handed over to his family members following a post mortem at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
