Attempt to murder charge on duo forcing beer on kid
A special team traced the accused with the help of a two-wheeler seen

Chennai/Tiruvannamalai: A shocking video of a group of men forcing liquor down a four-year-old boy’s throat at a farmland in Tiruvannamalai district went viral in WhatsApp on Monday forcing the district administration to take action. The Kadaladi police arrested two persons, including a computer operator working in the Aadhar card enrolment programme. A hunt is on for the maternal uncles of the boy who were part of the group.
The video caught the attention of Tiruvannamalai collector A.Gnanasekaran who directed the police to book the offenders. A special team traced the accused with the help of a two-wheeler seen in the video.
Police investigation revealed that the video was shot last Tuesday when the boy’s maternal uncles, Manikandan and Murugan were consuming liquor with their friends.
The boy from Chennai was staying with his grandparents at Mel Chola Kuppam in Kalasapakkam taluk here, police said. “The boy’s parents visit him from time to time and his mother visited him even as recently as a week ago,” Polur DSP R. Ganesan said.
J.Elumalai (23), a computer operator and his friend K.Premkumar (22), farm labour, have been arrested. A hunt was on to nab the boy’s maternal uncles. The child is now with his grandparents, police said.
