Mollywood filmmaker forays into Kollywood
Saseendra, a former associate of ace Mollywood filmmakers Bharathan and Joshi, who won critical acclaim for his debut Malayalam film Vaidooryam, is now foraying into Tamil. Titled Thagaval (Information), the film is inspired by the real life atrocities meted out to women in this country.
Talking about the film, Saseendra says, “It is an irony that in this nation, where women as worshipped as Goddesses, rivers and languages, they are also seen by some as objects of lust. The recent statistics show an increasing trend in crimes against women, especially rape cases. My film touches upon this subject, and my perspective is that that justice to these victims needs to be timely.”
He adds, “They say that information is wealth. A man’s life takes twists and turns on the information that he comes across in his life. One such piece of information that changes fortunes and sets up the momentum is the crux of Thagaval. In the film, the lead actress, played by Dimple, is blind, and faces a similar situation. Even a sightless person is not spared the rape offense. How the hero essayed by Teja fights for justice, forms the rest of the movie.” There’s a huge message in the film, he adds.
