Telangana power staff meets Rajnath Singh
The office bearers alleged that the AP Transco deliberately delayed the staff bifurcation process
Hyderabad: Telangana Electricity Engineers and Accounts officers met Union home minister Rajnath Singh and Union power minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday and presented their side regarding allegations levelled by AP staff against the guidelines issued by Telangana power utilities.
The office bearers alleged that the AP Transco deliberately delayed the staff bifurcation process and acted unilaterally in the formation of the committee. In a memorandum, the office bearers of TEEA (Telangana Electricity Engineers Association) explained to the home minister that the erstwhile AP power utilities never respected either Presidential Orders or GO 610, meant to safeguard the employment opportunities of locals. They said due to this the natives of TS had lost hundreds of jobs in the power sector since 1975. They said that despite so much injustice meted out to Telangana over four decades, the AP employees still wish to continue with jobs in Telangana.
They added that AP power utilities are creating unnecessary hurdles, both in courts and in New Delhi, though there are sufficient vacancies in AP power utilities to accommodate the AP staff. The association also submitted that there are many employees working in AP who are eager to come back to Telangana, but are retained by AP power utilities. The Telangana delegation has claimed that the Centre has responded positively to their request and assured them that no injustice will be done to TS power sector employees.
