Venkaiah Naidu discourses on culture
Follow US rules, but never forget your roots: Minister
Nellore: Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu said meditation is the best way to connect with God and that meditation and yoga help one connects with nature.
“Wealth gets purified by giving donation, ego gets purified by service and mind gets purified by meditation,” the senior BJP leader said while addressing a large gathering of Telugu people during a conference organised by Telugu Association of North America at Coba Centre in Detroit, USA on Friday.
“Ours is a thousand years of civilisation. What we have inherited from our great grandfathers has a scientific reasoning for everything. Lighting of the lamp with ghee recharges your senses. Neem and turmeric are antibiotic. Banana leaf is eco-friendly. Tulasi plant produces oxygen 24 hours. Cow dung is a purifier, protects from insects and acts as an antibiotic.
Prayers help to overcome anger, depression, jealousy, irritation and insecurity,” he said quoting Swamy Vivekananda.
“Chanting ‘Om’ leads to significant reduction in heart beat rate. It connects our body, mind and soul. ‘Namaskara’ is our Samskara,” Mr Naidu asserted. “You should be blessed with friends who are mirrors and shades. Mirror never lies and shade never leaves you. It follows you. Everybody must work hard. Try to enter the book. Book means history. To get into book, you must do something great,” the minister added.
He advised Indians in the US to follow American rules without forgetting their roots and culture, amid applauds from the audience. The minister also dwelt on major policy interventions of BJP government including schemes, out-of-the-box ideas, effective foreign policy, energising bureaucracy and bringing in transparency.
The economy is now back on tracks, inflation is under control, and growth rate is 7.3 per cent, likely to cross 8 per cent, he claimed. Participating in the Agriculture Forum held at TANA chaired by Dr Hanumaiah Bandla, Mr Naidu spoke mainly about the initiatives tak-en by the government.
