More than 50 candidates from the two Telugu-speaking states have qualified for the All India Services this year
Hyderabad: Saketa Raja Musinipally topped the Telugu states with an all-India 14th rank. Mr Raja is the son of state information commissioner M. Ratan and former special chief secretary M. Chaya Ratan.
Two other Telugu candidates, C. M. Saikanth Varma, ranked 18th and G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, ranked 21st were among the top 25 candidates. More than 50 candidates from the two Telugu-speaking states have qualified for the All India Services this year.
Interestingly this year, most of the qualified candidates have an already established career working in top multinational companies. Saketa Raja is a practising lawyer working with a top law firm in New Delhi. He graduated from the National Law School India University, Bengaluru.
18th ranker C. M. Saikanth Varma said he is a CS Engineer from IIT Madras and has worked with Amazon and Google while 21st ranker G. Lakshmikanth Reddy has worked with consultancy firm KPMG and is an IIM Ahmadabad alumnus.
“I think it is important to have a professional degree before taking a huge gamble preparing for the civil services. You always need a good backup in case the results are not in your favour,” Saketa Raja said.
His parents, both of whom have been top bureaucrats, helped him face situations in the interview round. “I think I would opt for the IFS because this is a great time to be working with the Foreign Service,” Saketa Raja said.
The rankers also took a break from work for the preparation. “At KPMG we were involved with several government projects and had to interact with bureaucrats,” said Lakshmikanth Reddy
