Dawood Ibrahim feared for his life

Ram Jethmalani says he had met the fugitive
Mumbai: Former police commissioner M.N. Singh told this newspaper about Dawood’s conditions for surrender which included that he should not be tried for any offence other than the 1993 bomb blast case.
Earlier, Mr Ram Jethmalani had criticised the political leadership for not accepting Dawood’s offer to return. “The government of that time did not accept Dawood’s offer to return as they feared they may be exposed. Obviously they had something to hide. Something would be been exposed had Dawood returned,” Mr Jethmalani said.
Mr Jethmalani even claimed to have met Dawood, who, he said was willing to return to India, but had denied his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Mr Jethmalani said he had informed Mr Pawar regarding Dawood’s willingness return. Mr Pawar was then the chief minister of Maharashtra. He also said that back then Dawood feared for his life.
