Coimbatore: Mother, two daughters found floating in water tank
A case has been registered and investigations are on
Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a mother and her two daughters were found dead inside a 10 feet water tank in Sulur early this morning. Police are investigating to ascertain if the mother killed the daughters and committed suicide or if it was a case of murder.
According to Sulur police station sources, Ezhil (29) from Dharmapuri was married to van driver Naveen (34) four years ago and the couple who settled in Kangeyampalayam in Sulur had two daughters Srivardhini (4) and Varunashri (2). The second daughter reportedly fell ill too often and Ezhil had expressed concern about her daughter’s health to her neighbours and had also stated that she was unable to meet the medical expenses of the child because of her alcoholic husband.
The couple quarrelled often especially when the driver came back home drunk and did not give her enough money to feed the family. On Friday night, the family had gone to sleep following a quarrel. In the morning when Naveen woke up, he supposedly did not find his wife and daughters in his house.
When he started looking for them he found them floating inside a 10 feet water tank at the backyard of the house. He immediately informed the police who rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
As it has been only four years since the couple got married , the RDO is conducting inquiry to ascertain if the woman has committed suicide after killing the children, or if she was murdered. As the iron closure of the tank was closed from the outside, the police are ascertaining if they could have been murdered.
