The police booked a case based on a complaint from the officer’s husband Mr Akun Sabarwal

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Central Crime Station police on Saturday registered a case against the management of Outlook magazine and employees for the sexist remarks against IAS officer Smita Sabharwal.

The police booked a case based on a complaint from the officer’s husband Mr Akun Sabarwal, who is an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer .

The police slapped charges on Outlook's Editor-in-Chief Krishna Prasad, assistant editor Madhavi Tata, cartoonist Shaahil and others.

The case was registered under Section 509 and Section 3 and 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition Act) 1986, on Outlook magazine.

Dr Tripurana Venkataratnam, chairperson of the State Commission for Women, alleged that the write-up in the magazine’s ‘Deep throat’ column was published to malign the reputation of IAS officer Smita Sabharwal as she was a woman.
