New Delhi: With India and Pakistan currently locked in a fierce tussle at the ongoing United Nation Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva, New Delhi, for the first time ever, used the “right to reply” rule to cut short Islamabad’s blame game on Kashmir.
The move comes amid reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meet at Ufa in Russia. According to reports, the move was made in order to send a strong message to the Pakistan. The right to reply allows delegates to interrupt a speaker.

India criticised Pakistan at the UN for sectarian violence in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
“Part(s) of the territories of our state remains under the forcible and illegal occupation of Pakistan. It is unfortunate that in recent times the people of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have become victims of sectarian conflict.. Pakistan’s occupation and discriminatory policies,” India said at the UN.
The provocation came from Pakistan. It said: “The people of J&K have been denied their right to self-determination, subjected to consistent and forceful foreign occupation.”
