IAS Officers Association to file plea against Outlook magazine
The Association discussed all these issues in detail and resolved to intensify their programmes
Hyderabad: The IAS Officers Association on Friday held an emergency meeting to discuss the future course of action against Outlook magazine for publishing derogatory content about IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal, additional secretary in Telangana CMO.
The Association resolved to submit a petition to Press Council of India seeking cancellation of magazine’s registration. It urged the TS government to support the woman officer financially and logistically in the legal battle.
While Ms Sabharwal sought public apology, the magazine on Thursday expressed “regrets” and sought police protection for its correspondent. Ms Sabharwal, who already served a legal notice on the magazine, said that the legal action would continue as the magazine has not tendered a public apology.
The Association discussed all these issues in detail and resolved to intensify their programmes. The Association has also urged the Central IAS Association to take up the issue strongly at the Central level. It has also decided to file a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission.
