Mistaken identity: Assailants chop off innocent woman’s wrist in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A woman's wrist got severed after she was attacked by three assailants at K.G. Nagar in Tavarekere police station limits on Thursday night. The assailants, armed with lethal weapons, were on the lookout for their rival. They mistook the victim for his wife.
The victim has been identified as Mangala Gowri, wife of Raghvendra, who runs sand business. The incident happened around 8 pm and she was rushed to private hospital where doctors successfully performed the surgery. The assailants have been identified as Krishna, resident of Kunnigal, Sandeep, a resident of Battarahalli and Kumar.
They are running a sand business. Nanjegowda, who runs sand business and had rented Mangala Gowri's house, got a threat call on Wednesday from the accused trio. They allegedly threatened to kill Nanjegowda and his wife over the issue of non-delivery of sand consignment on Wednesday. The lorry driver, said to be Nanjegowda's relative, had refused to deliver the consignment, thereby angering the trio.
According to the police, on Thursday evening the trio allegedly barged inside the house of Nanjegowda and threatened him. When Raghvendra, the victim's husband heard the commotion, he intervened and shouted at the trio and told them to leave.
They left but came back later, armed with lethal weapons. Meanwhile, Raghvendra left to buy grocery around 8 pm. When the assailants returned they mistook Mangala to be Nanjegowda's wife and attacked her. In an attempt to protect herself, her left wrist got chopped off. Hearing her loud screams the neighbours rushed for her help, but by then the assailants had fled. The police was alerted and they rushed to the spot.
They shifted victim to Laxmi Hospital where doctors performed the surgery. Taverekere police have registered a case of attempt to murder and launched a manhunt.
