2-year-old boy goes missing
Toddler goes missing while playing in front of the house
Coimbatore: A two-year-old boy is missing under mysterious circumstances from his residence in Nanjundapuram on Thursday. Police said Vishnu had gone missing while playing in front of the house on Thursday evening at around 4.15 pm. His father Dakshinamurthy is employed in a workshop while mother Banupriya is a receptionist in a private hospital in Ramanathapuram.
As both of them are working, Banupriya had left the child in the care of her grandmother, who resides near Kannimar temple in Nanjundapuram. “In the afternoon, Banupriya had returned home, but slept. A little later she woke up and looked around for Vishnu, who was missing,” police said. Despite a search in the neighbourhood, Banupriya could not find her son. On receiving a complaint, the Ramanathapuram police rushed to the spot and looked out for the missing child.
As there is a drainage canal flowing near their house, the fire service personnel carried out a search operation suspecting that the child could have drowned in it. Even after long hours of search, the fire service personnel couldn’t trace the boy in the canal.
Meanwhile, during investigations, a resident of the neighbourhood had told police that he noticed a stranger rushing away with the child. “Hence we are also probing to know if the child was kidnapped. However the man who told us this was drunk and was blabbering,” said an investing cop. A special team has been formed to search for the missing boy.
