Medical counselling only by July end in Telangana
Hyderabad: Counselling for admissions to Telangana medical colleges is likely to take another month since the number of seats is not yet known.
The TS government is awaiting inspections reports from the Medical Council of India to fix the number of medical seats to be offered for counselling.
Medical counselling for AP Eamcet, on the other hand, is likely to begin in the third week of July. The NTR University of Health Sciences is expected to announce the schedule in a few days.
Last year, the MCI had cleared 200 seats in state-run medical colleges on the condition that the government would develop suitable facilities. This year, the MCI held that the facilities had not been developed. The number of seats in private medical colleges was also cut.
The MCI began re-inspections on the request of the state government. Once the MCI issues its reports and the number of seats is fixed, the TS government will take the help of the NTR health university to conduct counselling as the Kaloji Health University is not yet functional. Separate counselling schedules will be announced by the NTRUHS for TS and AP.
